Route Maps: Pearl Izumi Short Ride Pearl Izumi Long Ride
The 22 mile short route is a no-drop ride intended for beginner and intermediate riders who don’t mind climbing a few hills. The ride starts out heading east with a gradual climb up the 56 bike path to Camino Del Sur. It heads east, down 3 Witches, and then climbs up Via De Santa Fe to the Via De La Valle intersection. This is where the short route separates from longer route, turning left on Via De Valle towards El Camino Real with a climb back up to the start point. This ride is a great opportunity to practice some climbing skills with full Wheel Women encouragement and support.
The 42.5 mile long route is NOT a no-drop ride. This longer route is a good blend of backcountry riding through Rancho Santa Fe and scenic return along the beach with some challenging hills, 2834′ of climbing and longer distances appropriate for intermediate riders. The beginning of this route is the same as the shorter route but splits off at the 14 mile point, heading north through Rancho Santa Fe, Stud Loop and La Costa via Camino Del Norte and Rancho Santa Fe Road. The route then heads west to the coast via La Costa Blvd and returns to the start point down the coast and back via Carmel Valley Rd and El Camino Real.
Don’t forget to bring your helmet, water/snack, spare tube, phone, ID, and Road ID if you have it. Hope you can join us!
